Welcome to MarketerGizmo’s weekly life hacks for marketers! I’m Andrea and I’m here to bring you this week’s life hack.

Every marketer knows there’s a fine line between over promoting and under promoting your content. But some people choose to just blatantly ignore that line and go overboard with over promoting.

This week’s hack is very, very simple: Stop. Over. Promoting.

I get it, your blog post is probably about something that your company does. Adding in a mini sales pitch at the end of every single section, now you’re just insulting my intelligence.

If you can’t rely on the quality of your content to prove to me that you know what you’re talking about, it might be time to re-write it. Having a paragraph at the end of every single section that says, “ooh hey we could do that for you!” or “You could just get that here”, that’s just plain annoying.

It’s kind of like having pop-up ads all over your content.

Just use the power of your content to convince me. Sure it’s tempting to promote yourself anywhere and everywhere that you can, but be tactful and specific.

Add value propositions, not sales pitches.
